and you are invited

25th june, 2022

OUR STORY

Jessalyn and Joe met in 2014 at a blues fusion dance in Bellingham, WA. Jess was a sophomore in college and Joe was teaching guitar in town after finishing his guitar degree. We moved to San Francisco in 2016 for Joe's software career and Atlanta in 2018 for Jess's chemistry PhD program.  We got engaged in January 2020.

We are so happy to invite you to our wedding at Lake Crescent near Jessalyn's hometown of Port Angeles, WA. Jess worked at a nearby restaurant in college and has many fond memories of the lake and the stunning hikes in the national park. We always go out to the lake when visiting Jess's family.

getting there

Transportation

There is parking at the venue. We have 40 spaces so please carpool when possible. If you are driving, be aware of the ferry schedule. Rocket Transportation is a good option to get from Sea-Tac to Lake Crescent without a car and MUST be booked in advance.

Accommodations

On  Friday and Saturday nights, we have 120 beds in heated cabins with shared bathrooms at the NatureBridge summer camp site. Linens are provided; bring toiletries.

Note: If you would like something less rustic than a 5-inch foam camp mattress, you may be interested in camping at Fairholme or Shadow Mountain just a few miles away, or accommodations in Port Angeles.

Instead of a registry, we are setting up a honeymoon fund.

Where should we go?

Other information

What to pack: This is a summer camp site. We are hoping the weather will cooperate with an outdoor, lakeside ceremony but we'll move it inside if need be. Dress code for the ceremony and reception is cocktail/semiformal. The ground isn't friendly to stilettos; a block heel or flat shoes are best for the ceremony and reception. Bring a warm layer and a rain jacket just in case. It could be in the 80s or 50s and nights are always chilly in the Northwest. Dinner and reception are indoors. Other than the ceremony and reception, we're in Olympic National Park so bring hiking clothes and shoes! Bring a bathing suit if you want to swim in the lake.

Kids: There will be a bunch of kids of all ages so please feel welcome to bring yours. Please note the venue doesn't provide cribs for little babies or high chairs. There's no lifeguard on the lake but it's very shallow at the shore. The guided hike and canoeing on Saturday afternoon are perfect for kids. In addition to meals there will be snacks available throughout the day. We'll have games and activities for kids during the reception.

Venue rules: Absolutely no flames of any kind. Quiet hours start at 10 (we'll still be partying, just don't yell outdoors).

Accessibility: The site is historic, with unpaved walkways and stairs up to cabins. If you have any access needs, please let Jessalyn and Joe know as soon as possible. Only service animals allowed.

Fishing: There are two trout species that are endemic to Lake Crescent, Beardsley and Crescentii trout. You can go fishing but you have to catch-and-release.
